The development and coordinated deployment of an immersive digital jungle environment projection-mapped onto the walls of an indoor event venue.
Challenge
The concept, design and production of a digital jungle environment with corresponding wildlife. The produced custom content was required to cover four 18ft high walls ranging from 60-80ft in length while precisely mapping the video to the geometry of each wall seamlessly. Assessments indicated that the projection power of over 5-large movie theatre projectors would be needed.
Solution
Strategically deploying ten specialized 10k and 12k digital projectors. This effectively mapped nearly 21-million video pixels of motion content onto 5400 square feet of wall area, thereby producing maximum visual clarity. As well as the effective creation of a 3D environment on a two dimensional surface, giving the viewer a truly immersive experience.
Impact
The event narrative took its audience through a large sliding-door opening under a 12ft high waterfall into an area where they were surrounded by 270 degrees of "living" jungle. The custom video content included temple entrances mapped onto five existing venue doors, a dozen additional waterfalls and wildlife that included tigers, elephants, monkeys and birds to name a few. The highlight was a climatically cinematic lightning and thunder storm.
