Pumpkin Seed Recipes – How to Make, Cook and Eat

Served Raw

Can you eat raw pumpkin seeds? The answer is yes. This is a healthy food that can be enjoyed on its own or as a part of many dishes. Ensure that they are clean and ready for consumption if prepared at home, or from a trusted brand if store bought.

Oven Roasted or Baked

How long do you bake pumpkin seeds and what is best way to roast them? You can vary the time and temperature according to your own taste, but generally the following baking process produces a terrific roasted result.

  • Preheat over at 170 degrees Celsius
  • Place desired amount of pumpkin seeds on baking sheet
  • Drizzle 1 tsp. of olive oil over seeds and mix thoroughly
  • Place in oven and roast or bake for about 15-20 minutes (20max)
  • When expanded and browned to taste remove
  • Place in bowl and add preferred seasonings, or add to a dish

Toasted or Fried

Toasting pumpkin seeds have an incredibly crispy coating when served, so for you crunchiness lovers out there, enjoy. There are literally hundreds of tasty ways to season them to perfection.

  • Boil seeds in water for 10 mins. strain and blot dry
  • Brush a frying pan with 1 tsp. olive oil
  • Place on stove top over medium heat
  • Add desired amount of pumpkin seeds, try not to overlap, stir frequently
  • They expand and toast fairly quickly, 12-15 minutes
  • Place in bowl and add preferred seasonings

Ground Meal

  • Pour peptias into food processer, start processing
  • The seeds will turn into a dry meal after few minutes (continue below if butter is desired)

Process into Butter

  • The dry meal will soon turn into a finer moist texture, loosen from the sides of the food processor with a spoon or spatula when necessary
  • Continue to process into clumps
  • Finally the clumps will dissolve into a wonderfully smooth pumpkin seed butter

Milk

  • Place pumpkin seeds in bowl or large glass jar, cover with filtered water
  • Add a pinch sea salt, dash apple cider vinegar
  • Allow to soak at room temperature for at least 10 hours
  • Drain, discard the soaking liquid, and rinse
  • Place rinsed seeds, fresh water, and a pinch of salt in a blender, puree on high for 1-2 minutes
  • Serve as whole milk or strain for a smoother version
  • To strain, pour through a strainer layered with cheese cloth, and bottle
  • Will keep for 2 to 3 days in the fridge
